a good friday

I'm up and it is dark. I am thinking about what Fi said the night before about catching the sunrise on Good Friday morning. I checked the time, 5:50 a.m. Sun rises at 7:02. We hadn't really talked about it and he is fast asleep. Seconds later I gently nudge him and whisper, “Sunrise?”

A few seconds after some grumbling was all it took. I knew it was on. One's car is blocking ours in the driveway, (always something blocking it seems) he moves it and we carry on. He gets in the car with no keys which were left in the car he just moved. He retrieves them. All systems go.

We show up along with another ten photographers strewn along the rocks and the pool. Cameras steady, pointing out to sea. We are not alone. Joggers pass, two women exercising, they raise both arms. I call it worship. How can you not? Dogs rest and are quiet. Fishermen wait and then the moment comes. The moment we are all waiting for. And we are not alone. All creation is groaning awaiting this.

This is a Good Friday when Jesus made a public spectacle of his enemy and ours and we are witnesses of the rising of the sun in all of its glory. We rejoice, knowing he comes just as sure as this uprising and he is coming in all his magnificent splendorous glory which will cover the earth as the water covers the sea.

We can't help but rejoice.

~ and his brightness was like the sunlight. rays streamed from his hand and there in the sunlight splendour was the hiding place of his power ~

    a good friday ~
how he loves

He is jealous for me, loves like a hurricane, I am a tree

Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy

When all of a sudden I am unaware of these afflictions

Eclipsed by glory and I realize just how beautiful You are

And how great Your affections are for me

And oh, how He loves us, oh

Oh, how He loves us, how He loves us all

Oh, how He loves, yeah, He loves us

Oh, how He loves us, oh, how He loves us

Oh, how He loves

And we are His portion and He is our prize

Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes

If His grace is an ocean, we're all sinking

And heaven meets earth like an unforeseen kiss

And my heart turns violently inside of my chest

I don't have time to maintain these regrets

When I think about the way

Oh, how He loves us, oh

Oh, how He loves us, how He loves all

How He loves

Yeah, He loves us, oh, how He loves us

Oh, how He loves us, oh how He loves

Oh, I love

Yeah, He loves us, yeah, He loves us

How He loves us, oh, how He loves us all
