legacy

For this track on Legacy, we look at 1 Chronicles 29:17

I know, my God, that you test the heart and are pleased with integrity. All these things I have given willingly and with honest intent. And now I have seen with joy how willingly your people who are here have given to you.

David knew he had been tested. He knew a lot about his heart, his generosity,. He had not nor ever been on the take. Though he acquired great wealth in Israel, it was not about him, his wealth, fame. He was primarily desirous of all things related to God.

What totally shocked him was the size of his legacy. He lived his life in consummate integrity in the area of resources. He discovers that the largeness of his spirit had produced a result in the people he never expected. Because his adrenals and kidneys had framed problems well and resolved them rightly, it accrued a largeness in his spirit that overflowed and impacted an entire nation.

He had communicated to them that the most important thing which was the grandeur of God, the magnificence of God, the value of serving God and when it came time to demonstrate in a personal, physical, individual way  with no pressure, no minimum requirement, no fanfare, he discovered his lifestyle had taught people to serve a big God, a God worthy to be honoured. A hundred thousand choices in his life had been observed, recorded and made an impact.

He had left a legacy on the nation that was remarkable and immense. At the end of the day, scripture is clear, we reproduce after our own kind. The deeper application of this principle, namely our spirit is generally going to have a proportionate impact on the people we are investing in. And to the degree we have allowed God to produce in us six nines, to that degree, our spirit is going to impact the lives of those around us. Significant moving many of them in the direction we are going.

David knew his heart. He had no idea this his heart and choices were contagious to an entire nation. And this was before the days of mass media. And yet thru word of mouth, as one person shared with another, a nation was transformed from greed which is the default position of humanity and fear which is the spirit of slavery into desire, delight in giving back to Almighty God.

blessing for legacy

I bless you adrenals and kidneys and human spirit with celebrating progress made to date. Look at your life, your choices. Look at your knowledge of covenant. Look what your grasp is on the provisions and resources of God. After you have savoured those and celebrated the immensity of your knowledge of God, those areas of covenant that you are deeply familiar with, look around you and see your legacy.

Spend hours this week, night after night celebrating the legacy with God. It is wonderful thing when God purifies us but more amazing when we can leave a legacy because we know the covenant well enough to have framed a problem accurately and celebrate them around generosity not around our fear of poverty, rather celebrating the fruit in the next generation.
