redemption

And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten (brought forth, to purchase) a man from the LORD. Genesis 4:1

Why this commercial term to purchase when describing bringing forth a son?

In the garden, Adam and Eve lost alot. Even in their great loss we cannot overlook the Lord’s word to them.

‘Even though all this bad stuff happened, you are still my go to people. For through you a Saviour will come.'

What God is saying is that he will establish right order in every place you lost it. This is foundational to our relationship with God. Thus, this word ‘to purchase’ is a reference back to a covenant with God made in the garden.

When something comes to upset our adrenals it is because we anticipate more loss, another devouring in our lives. The reality is we can frame the situation around God’s covenant with us, having the assurance that God is in the process of our restoration. God’s primary heart in covenant is restoration not destruction. God spoke judgement but followed it up with redemption.

Our question then should be, How does God envision this situation to be life-giving and transformational? This way of reframing a problem will keep up from over active adrenals.

prayer for redemption

We pray now that you make a public spectacle of your enemy. We present ourselves to you asking you to imprint upon our adrenals a profound sense of your passion for redemption.

Rather than having our adrenals have a trauma bond to every trauma we have ever had and every mistake we have ever made, injury that comes to us through the culture, we ask you to imprint upon our adrenals the majesty of redemption’s plan.

We ask that we can truly emotionally engage with our adrenals and have that wonderful anticipation and expectation that some way some how this crisis we are facing is going to move us toward the redemption of all things.

We ask for that message to be imprinted in a healing and transformational way into our adrenals, in Jesus name.

questions to explore

Having listened to this track, on Redemption, what are your thoughts and emotions that bubble up? How do you relate to what is being described?

How does God envision your current situation to be life-giving and transformational?

Can you reframe what you are going through differently meaning not anticipating more loss and devouring but through the provision that comes with being in covenant with God?

Can you tell a redemption story here?
