For this track on six nines, we read in Job 7:17-18:
What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him? And that thou shouldest visit him every morning, and try him every moment?
Being tested and watched all the time is no fun. It can be overwhelming unless we know God’s perspective.
Five nines, commonly taken to mean "99.999%", may refer to high availability of services. Six nines, however, is 100% accuracy. There are many claims in products, as passionate companies are driven to improve. The pursuit of excellence for commercial purposes is endless.
Yet like Job, we too whine when tested. When God is testing us every day we can feel it is overwhelming, too hard.
‘What is man that thou shouldest visit him every morning, and try him every moment? Will you never look away?’
What if we were to see it as a treasure? What if we valued God looking at us and wanting to get us to six nines? What would that look like? Could we endure the pain of refining? What if we had a vision of six nines instead of comfort?
This is an opportunity for you to craft your own prayer. Ponder the pain you are in. What would it possibly look like if you were to return to six nines? Would that be so refined to be like Enoch? Ponder it. Then share your conclusion with God as to what you are willing to invite him to do.
How much testing, purging, purifying are you willing to embrace in spite of the pain? What would six nines look like in one person’s life?
Having listened to this track, Six Nines, what are your thoughts and emotions that bubble up? How do you relate to what is being described?
Are you up to the challenge? A beginning place is to start an honest conversation with God. I don't think many of us jump into this one with a 'bring it on' attitude. I for one want to know God's heart for me and that is where I will begin. How about you?
We would love to hear from you
